Where do you want to go, and what do you want to see, once you've taken your pick of Christchurch Hospital doctor jobs or started work at one of our other sites? There's so much it's often hard to know where to start. From whale watching to standing on an ancient glacier, you won't be starved for choice.
People save for their entire lives to spend just a few weeks travelling around New Zealand, and still they don’t manage to scratch the surface of all that’s on offer. Living and working here means you could (and many of House officers, or RMOs, do) spend every weekend or cluster of days off exploring our incredible country, and get an intimate perspective that goes well beyond the traditional tourist view.
You also get to try it all – whether your passion is bungy jumping, white water rafting, mountain biking, sailing or more sedate pursuits like catching a show, exploring some of the funky, trendy boutiques that make our shopping areas really special, or enjoy a world-class, waterfront meal.
It takes just under two hours to fly from one end of New Zealand to the other, and fierce competition has made air-fares so low, regular weekends out of town are entirely doable. Hitting the road, instead, gives you the added bonus of spectacular scenery and fascinating small towns to break the journey, to explore things along the way.
FEATURED PHOTO: Lake Tekapo is RMO Wendy's favourite place in New Zealand (so far). Richard says the blue was so bright when they first saw it that it looked like it had been photoshopped. Watch their video to hear more about their travels.
